What Determines the Color of ‘Real’ Wines

Greetings from Bunker Hill Vineyard & Winery!

What Determines the Color of ‘REAL’ Wines?

For years I have listened to the factory wineries hype the color of their filtered wines as ‘bold and rich’. Well, I have reached my breaking point. As the maker of “real” unfiltered wines, it is time for you to hear the real truth!

Factory wineries achieve the color of their wines by mixing and blending and matching a color chart. You will easily recognize their wines; the bottles are sealed with plastic, aluminum foil or a screw top. Nowhere on their label will they tell you that their wines are filtered.

The color of “real” unfiltered wines come from the actual skins of the fruit or vegetable! They are ‘never’ mixed and blended to match a color chart. The wine bottles are sealed with real sealing wax. The word ‘Unfiltered’ will be clearly printed on the wine label.

There are three factors that determine the color of ‘real’ wines; how much sunlight the fruit or vegetable gets or doesn’t get, how much moisture(rain) the fruit or vegetable gets or doesn’t get and, finally, how much nutrients the fruit or vegetable gets or doesn’t get.

When you visit a ‘real’ winery, like Bunker Hill Vineyard & Winery, you should expect the colors of your wines to vary from year to year and harvest to harvest!

Salute & Happy Days from the …Green Winer
